Back safely from another mission but no Internet

From Liisa, SMSgt Temple’s wife: Rex is safely back from his latest mission but the camp Wi-Fi is down and the moral center Internet connection has slowed down to a crawl. So he won’t be able to post his entry about today’s mission or send the video he promised yesterday from the 4th of July shooting practice. Did I mention apparently the line for a phone call home is more than an hour’s wait? I only know because Rex managed to send home three sentences in an e-mail that took 20 minutes to write and send because the connection is so slow. But it’s better than nothing since I know he’s safely back.

But since he can’t post anything Rex asked me to write something to “keep the blog warm.” As soon as I get the two doggies washed and have removed the piles of sand they brought home from the park this morning, I’ll sit down and write about Rex’s charity drive to collect school supplies for Afghan children.

Update: Apparently Rex is making progress on the school supplies front but has to wait for some other folks to get back from leave to finalize the details. How do I know? Because my awesome husband waited in that long line to call me! Now back to figuring out how to change florescent long light tubes without falling off the ladder!

  1. Thank you for allowing others to share in this personal interaction with your loved ones. We owe so to our men and women who have and continue to risk everything for our nation in the name of freedom. God bless them all. Just want to say thanks from the bottom of my heart for keeping us safe and informed. My heart goes out to all our military and their families for doing the ultimate sacrifice, serving your country.

    God bless our military families…

    Sincerely,

  2. Lisa, I just read the article in today’s Tampa Tribune. I hope for only the best for your husband & you.

    Godspeed.

  3. Liisa,
I found out about this blog in today’s TBT, and wanted to thank you and your husband for sharing this adventure with us. My husband is over in AFG right now also, so it’s been fun to read your posts and see that I’m not alone! I can especially relate to the terrible phone connections and the stories of long lines at MWR. I swear my eardrums have almost been blown out a few times by the crazy noises on the phone lines!
    God bless you both.
